Synopsis

Ten-year-old Karo grows up with her parents in an Amsterdam commune in the early Seventies. She leads a carefree existence in this utopia-for-adults. The mandate says that everything is to be shared in the squat, but soon not everyone is able to honor these ideals, leading Karo to get caught in the crossfire of the internal conflicts that start to divide the group. Karo slowly realizes that nothing can stay the same forever…

  • My Queen Karo is one of the first films with Matthias Schoenaerts, who is now acting in international films like ‘The Drop’, ‘A Little Chaos’ and ‘A Bigger Splash’.
  • Actress Déborah François was nominated by the César Award for Most Promising Actress in 2006 and in 2007. She won the award in 2009 for her role in ‘The First Day of the Rest of Your Life’. François also starred in ‘L’Enfant’ (The Child) of the Dardenne brothers.
  • Déborah François was 21 years old when the film was shot and played the mother of a 10-years old girl.
